Feeding our Spirit
Thank you Jesus for Your guiding-hand upon me. I have peace in my heart because I know I am in right standing before You.
You’re welcome My daughter. You are Mine. Do you remember when I took you high among the stars and told you this is all Mine?
I remember. It was such a special moment for me Father, to be so close to You and to be so very deep in the universe. It’s such a peaceful place.
I remember it too…it’s a memory we both share. My glory is there, and this is what you felt and saw. You are My creation as well My dear one, and I delight in you! My glory is also in you because I reside in you.
Jesus, I know You are near to me at this moment.
Yes My daughter, I am near to you. I also help you in ways you are not aware of.
Lord, I am Yours, and my desire is for You. I trust You with where You want to lead me. Help me to always be dependant on You for all our needs. You are the giver of all good gifts.
You are right in what you ask My faithful one. It is easy to forget you need me when you have everything you need in this world to thrive. The important thing to remember is to feed your spirit. Most people are poorer than they realize despite their earthly wealth. You are truly rich when you are dependant on Me for real food and water. Only I can give these to you as you come to Me day by day. Just like your physical body needs nourishment every day to stay healthy, your spirit also needs nourishment every day that only I can provide when you spend time in My presence.
Father, thank-you for this reminder. You’ve shown me how important spiritual food is many times during our walk together. Help me to teach this valuable lesson to my children as well so they can take these nuggets of wisdom into their adulthood.
Remember My daughter, the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.
Thoughts:
It’s easy to forget that as children of God, we need to be intentional about feeding our spirit, and we do this by being with the Lord every day.
John 6:57,58 says, “Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.”
Our spirit craves to be in His presence because in His presence is where our spirit gets fed -He is the bread of life! We were made to be close to Him, walk with Him and hear His voice every day. His words are food for our spirit, and that’s why it’s important to be able to hear Him when He speaks to us in our heart and do what He asks us to do -doing what He asks feeds our spirit, and not doing what He asks brings discouragement.
It is equally important to spend time in the Word of God, the Bible, because our spirit gets nourished through these words of His as well, for they are spirit and are life. The Bible says in the book of John that Jesus is the Word of God that became flesh. As the Word of God, He nourishes our spirit when we spend time with Him.
When the Lord first called me to study the Bible, He showed me in a dream that I had walked into a school -I had been invited to have breakfast with the principal who had a table filled with good food to eat. The biggest thing on the table was a huge slab of meat. The Lord was showing me that as I study the Word of God, I am eating real food; He nourishes my spirit as I spend time with Him, studying His word.
As the Lord leads me on our journey together, He feeds my spirit through everything He asks me to do. This is the reason why I crave to do the things of God -because my spirit gets fed in a way it would not be fed if I chose not to listen and obey. Having said this, the Lord has been leading me to work out everyday, more specifically, cross training and running.
One night in a dream He gave me a quick picture of a treadmill. The treadmill belt was made out of meat. I had been sensing from the Lord to run on our treadmill regularly over the cold winter months, and this quick picture was a confirmation. So far I have made up my mind not to run outside in the winter, but what if the Lord asks me to one day? I know He will feed my spirit if I chose to listen, and who am I to say no to the one who sustains me?
