Rest for the Weary

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

My sweet daughter, you are mine -come, I will give you rest. I am near to you this day. Those who seek me find me when they seek me with all their heart. Come, the time is now complete.

My Dad. I don’t know what to say this morning. I just remembered a quick dream you gave me last night; A very wealthy man was going to take me and my children and his family, all the kids to a mall and pay for all our ice-cream. I didn’t know this mall and hadn’t heard of it before. Father, I know you’ve been saying this trial is over, and because it’s been such a long and difficult one, I’ve wanted it to be over for such a long time. Today my Bible study led me to Matthew 11:28-30, Rest for the Weary. I never really understood what you meant by your yoke being easy and your burden light. When I looked it up in William Barclay’s Study Bible, read that you lovingly place a yoke onto our shoulders that perfectly fits us because it’s hand-crafted by your hands. And when you place it onto our shoulders, you also do this in love and we are meant to carry it also in love because of who it represents, and that is you. I’m sorry that I’ve complained so much in our journey. Please forgive me.

I do forgive you my daughter.

Father, whatever’s left of our journey, help me to keep this right perspective so that I can carry it in love, for you. When I carry it in love, then I’m truly walking in love with you too, and this gives me strength because your love brings joy to my heart. Your Joy is my strength and was the key to helping me prepare for my message.

My daughter, you’ve done well and I’m so very proud of you. You’ve learned many things on this journey and have grown in wisdom. My daughter, there is more to come.

Father, I’m really just a kid because I’m still wondering if we’re there yet.

I know. Rest, it is done and you are ready. All is well with you.
